I joined Medium a year ago, read articles for a while then just drifted away. I am back now and going to try to keep at this.
My story? I have spent my career starting in the 11th grade working in the I.T. industry. Back then it was Data Processing. Today, it’s I.T. I have supported machines from Burroughs Mid Range systems to VAX 11/750 and Unisys Mid Range system. Starting somewhere in 1995 I moved onto the PC world. Novell and Windows. Then by 1998 it was 99% Windows and Unix. Then by 2001, it was totally a…
That stinks. Have you tried Edge drop menu in top left corner then About Edge and see if it will update there? My Edge hasn't used the Microsoft AutoUpdater in I think 2 months now. Keep me posted.
Yes, the Touch ID Button is my favorite too. I hate typing in passwords, and even more when the PW Manager for whatever reason doesn't remember the pw. Nice article.
Nice article. I bought my first Mac in Jan of 2021. It' s a M1 MacBook Air. Hardware wise it's great quality. Though I am shocked it still has bezels when compared to the Dell XPS 13. I agree with you on the trackpad, very nice! As well is the keyboard. Everyone needs to take a look at the current Dell XPS 13 and Surface Laptop 13 for a nice comparison. Or any high end ThinkPad. Nice article.
Appreciate the reply. Not sure why you're having so many troubles with Windows 10. Windows 10 auto updates on Patch Tuesday. Sure there are daily AV updates. Other than that there may be some small misc. updates. Though not as you describe. Windows Store auto updates. Again not sure why you're having problems. I never manually go into the Windows App store on my Dell to force updates. It just works. I really think you're almost making things up as if you were still running Windows XP. Windows 10 does not behave as you detail. Just let Windows 10 autoupdate in the background. Except for Patch Tuesday you should not see a re start prompt. My M1 MacBook Air is 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD.
I get it, 99% of Medium is Apple fanboys and apologists. Appreciate your taking the time to read my article and comment.
Good article. I went with 16GB RAM on my M1 MacBook Air. 100% I made the correct decision. I run Edge with 10 tabs open, Chrome with 10 tabs open, Signal, 2 instances of Word, iMessages, Calendar and News open. Guess what? I'm swapping RAM with 16GB. Take a look in Activity Monitor. This constant 8 vs 16 debate is dumb. Just dumb. Get a technical background and learn about swap. You want to run 8GB RAM, it's a free country. But don't push your non technical Apply Fanboyism as if its gospel.
Good article. It's tough to find on Medium adult, professional articles about tech.
I am curious to see the new Intel CPU's, chipsets that are released alongside Windows 11. I am curious to see how they compete in the real world (Not the Apple fanboy world) to the new M1, etc silicon. Yes the M1 SoC is very interesting, but it's not magical, wonderful, etc...
Medium really needs to rename itself to the "Apple Fanboy Blog"
The blank Passwords page issue has been resolved now. Also you no longer need to use the Microsoft AutoUpdate thing. I have been running the Edge Dev Build for months now. Very nice browser. I wish more Mac people would give it a try.
